Blogging is the future of education….
According to some recent articles Ive seen across the web, it appears that more and more educators are turning to blogging in an effort to bridge the gap between web savvy students and themselves. Have a look at this article from 901am, which gives a great quote here that Ill paste.
“One Principal believes blogging is the future of education. And I tend to agree. The ability to quickly assess a students understanding of the course material is huge. And teachers can easily interact with students in the comments section and in the classroom forums. Likewise tools can be create in which to rate, and/or grade posts to help teach students where they need to improve. Built in spelling tools will help students create a solid understanding of grammar and excellence in performance.”
You can already get a free education oriented blog at edublogs, which uses the same multiple blogger technology that we here at Content Quake use with Wordpress MU. The most exciting thing about this is that not only does it bridge the gap between teachers and students, but it also allows teachers here in the states to learn from teachers across the globe that are connected to a like minded blogging network like Edublogs.
Our very own blog, EduTech is tackling many of these issues on a regular basis. He recently wrote about instant messenger systems as a possible tool for the entire school. You can read lots more over at EduTech.
