success.jpgBlogging is great on so many levels.  It is an amazing way for people to connect around all sorts of issues.  I mean, if we didn’t think that - we wouldn’t have started CQ!  But when it comes to business/corporate blogs, well, they do have pros and cons.

Businesses love blogs because the create an immediate “gathering room” for customers and the company.  It’s a central place that can interface the public with the interior life of the company.  That can, if done right, immediately create an amazing community feel.  And this doesn’t have to extend just to current customers.  That’s another exciting thing about business blogs.  It can extend that reach to potential customers as well.

But businesses will eventually come to understand that this customer interaction can uncover new territory.  That’s because blogging is an interactive endeavor.  It allows for an open dialogue.  So, what happens if customers start posting comments that are negative?  Well, you need to decide what your plan of action is before it happens.  And it would be helpful to state your comment policy openly.  That way you set expectations before you confront the issue.
